Presenting the magic course *drum roll*
Tableau 2020 A-Z: Hands-On Tableau Training for Data Science
Obviously, I did not pay that egregious amount of money just for a course. It was offered from $19.99 for the first 3 days in March. That’s the best thing about Udemy. Some sources claimed that Udemy is actually on a year-round sale if you browse incognito mode. I never tried, but I digress as usual.
If you have complete trust in me, you can just go ahead, buy the course and learn. But if you’re interested in knowing why here goes:
1. Hands-on and Straight to Business
The course cut straight to tell you what is being taught how it is being taught and didn’t elaborate on why it was constructed this way (which most instructors do).
In the first 4 sections (out of 9), they build up my confidence by showing the attractive visuals of Tableau. The concepts were basic (time-series, bar charts, maps, scatterplots and dashboard). Introducing dashboards early is a good choice for me because I look forward to the animations and visuals that I’ll be introduced to in the upcoming sections.
2. Stimulating Challenges
The last three sections tackle more real-ish business analytics. They used datasets from Kaggle and from a public open-source database.
The course taught advanced data preparation, wrangling the data in Excel before prepping visualizations. I think this was an essential skill to learn since beginners like me have no idea how Tableau extracts data from files.
3. The Instructor at Section Intros
This is maybe my thing. But I appreciated that the instructor showed his excited face, explaining the upcoming section. I do a lot of online courses, and putting a look to the voice feels like going to an actual class taught by real people.
This point is more of a bonus point because the instructor’s excitement in explaining pumped up my spirits when starting a new section.
To sum it up, I’ve never gone through a course this fast and be so happy about what I’ve learned. The plus is that the advanced course on Tableau is offered for $20.99. And I will definitely look forward to learning from that course!
Thank you for reading about my excitement, and have a great day!
